Have you ever heard of something called 'kuber ka khazana'.I know most of you would have heard of it but did not beleived ,not even for a second ,that it ever existed .I am here to break this myth of yours and pay tribute to the most wonderful feature of iit kanpur and that is the IITK LAN.Hat's off to those social worker's who work day in and day out to make available on LAN the most weirdest and the most unusual collection of stuffs ............even google would find it difficult to do ..................Come on guys i am not joking .........the LAN is equipped with anything to everything .You type in the most unusual word of all time and i bet it is going to come out with something interesting .
Well let me narrate to you one incident that prompted me to write about the exceptional use that it has for us IIT 'ans .I had to prepare a TA201 lab report ........I knew not even a single bit of how to do it ...........I was sitting in front of my computer and don't know what prompted me to search TA 201 on the LAN ..........and to my immence surprise it came up with a set of 5 lab reports scanned and shared by an angel from god ...........
Right from the latest films ,to latest songs and latest .... it has everything .......from all seasons of PRISON BREAK to LOST and from latest episodes of INDIAN IDOL to the exploits of raja hasan in SA RE GA MA PA ............and countless other things, even kyonki saas bhi kabhi bahu thi is on LAN ..........GOD this is ultimate .
Well if I say that LAN is an alternative to girls in IIT Kanpur ,then I am sure most of us would agree to that ..................It helps us to LIVE at IIT KANPUR.finally i would like to conclude with my famous saying .............."GOD BELEIVES IN THE PHILOSPHY OF EQULIBRIUM ,HE TOOK AWAY GIRLS FROM US BUT GAVE US LAN INSTEAD".

ATTAINING DIVINITY
I swear by the name of god ,I am no good at writing ,not even able to touch the feet of those
brilliant writers who have the capability of sketching their feelings through the paints of their
powerful and mesmerising words but even then I can assure you that my words would definately touch the chords of emotions in your heart . Love .......what is love ?Well I am damn sure that most of you ,even though would want to ,but couldn't, put into words what a divine feeling it is .One of my friends said love is the strongest feeling that exists in this world but I personally feel that it would be a crime to bound it under the periphery of feelings .But as people say different people have different perception towards life so they have their own views over what love is .To me love is respect and care is trust .Love and care are the integral part of a lasting relationship and so is respect and trust .They both are analogous to each other ,one cannot exist without the other .So if you respect somebody then you love him or her as the case may be ,and the extent of your respect and trust defines the boundaries of your love .At this point let me make one thing clear that I am not just talking about the love between a girl and a boy ,surely that is love but that relationship alone doesn't define it .Respect is developed in you the moment you fall in love with somebody .And then you start caring for her ,by caring I mean you start to trust that person .........the more you trust her the more you love her ........................TO BE CONTINUED

STARTING OF A NEW RELATIONSHIP
Few innocent faces and a couple of exploiters ready to pounce upon the so called sheep's of the new academic year ,this is what most of us have a perception of ragging ,which even though unluckily, has been made even more stronger by the continuous bombardment by the news channels over the consequences of it .Ragging (known in the USA as hazing) is the systematic ritual physical and psychological abuse of freshmen or other juniors by their seniors in an educational setup, with the purported intent of socially inducting the newcomers into the group.Well if you search on the internet this is what you will get as the OFFICIAL definition of ragging ,but beleive me there is more to this word than merely conveyed to us by ,speaking frankly ,some narrow minded people .
Imagine yourself entering the premises of your college for the very first time where you know that your dreams would be materialised and you would come face to face with the mundane reality of this mortal world that you are here for a purpose ,purpose to satisfy yourself ,purpose to satisfy your family ,and most importantly purpose to do something worthwhile and make yourself accountable .Well I know I got a bit carried away while describing your entry into the college but never mind ;so what's the first thought that has the privelage to pass through your bright mind .Well I suppose it would be how would I be able to adapt to the totally different lifestyle or, speaking clearly ,how best I could enjoy the fruits of freedom that I have so rightly earned without disturbing the purpose that I have come here for .And what do you think ,who would be in the best place to tell you this ?Offcourse they are the people who have already gone through the phase that you are currently in the process of going through and they are your
seniors .I don't know about other colleges but here in IIT Kanpur , we ,as the seniors, completely know our responsibilities that is by default given to us as a senior .Well actually it's a cyclic process ,we are giving to our juniors what we got from our seniors. So actually it's the culture of the institute that defines ragging on it's own terms .And for us it's the first step towards creation of a new relationship between juniors and seniors ,a relationship which is mutually beneficial .
There is a whole new purpose behind interacting with the juniors which has been largely interprated as obscene stuffs by some people .You would be surprised that most of the newcomers come to know about the exceptional talent that they have during the ragging period .It's because they do things during ragging which in normal circumstances they won't probably do due to the fear of performing but here when they are asked to do so ,they do it and undoubtably excel in it .
I know that in some colleges blatant violation of human rights is done under the name of ragging .But again i am stressing that calling this kind as ragging and banning the interaction would normally harm every student .

RISING FROM THE ASHES
So here i am again ,ready to start of a new year ,oops sorry , new academic year at IIT Kanpur after a horrible semester whose terrorising grades still haunt me .But even I cannit deny that never in life have I felt so thankful to god even after falling into pits of failure .This has been like a come of age experience for me ,an experience which would certainly join the elite group of incidents that changed the course of my life .You would be feeling quite surprised at what I am uttering but beleive me sometimes senseless things mean more sense than serious ,precise and worthwhile words polished with the brilliance of the only thing that accounts for the difference between humans and animals , and that is the unrelentless and faithful brain .So just close the doors of your brain ,lock it , and throw the keys into the pockets of your heart so that it can only give its brilliance when called for by the feelings arising in your heart .Even if you didn't get what the heck i just wrote down ,never mind , cause even I don't know why the hell I wrote that down but beleive me this came out straight from the deepest part of human anatomy which luckily is called heart .
Now about ragging ; even after my repeated resolutions last year of not indulging into any sort of ragging of freshers I could not help myself doing so seeing the helpless faces of those new students who in the language of IIT Kanpur are called bachaa(meaning a child ).God I think I am ready to bargain anything in life just to see the look on their faces ,it presents such a funny situation where people almost of same age as yours ,staring at you with such innocent faces and cuteness that resembles a new born baby who finds his bonded obligation to follow everything that the so called 'Baaps' of IITK ask them to .At this point let me make one thing damn clear that there is no ragging done in IITK .It's just a formal interaction between the seniors and juniors with a 'in' in front of formal added by the seniors.It's fun at the topmost level of the biggest stupidity you can ever dream of committing .
